Summary: Hampshire 2XI lost to Northamptonshire 2XI by eight wickets
Hampshire 2XI: 219-9 (40 ovs)
Northamptonshire 2XI: 223-2 (38 ovs)

Hampshire’s Second XI had a tough start to their 2013 Trophy campaign as they lost to Northamptonshire 2XI by eight wickets on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.

All-rounder Hamza Riazuddin scored 59 and development contracted players Adam Rouse (46) and Sean Terry (45) both chipped in as the hosts reached 219-9 having lost the toss and been put into bat.

Unfortunately, the wickets never flowed freely during the response and Northants chased down their target with two overs to spare, making 223-2 in 38 overs.

The Second XI are next in Trophy action against Kent on Monday 13 May, once again on the Ageas Bowl Nursery ground. Admission to that match will be free, starting at midday.
