In line with most other County Boards, HCB wish to form an Association of Cricket Groundsmen.
The aims of the Association will be
-
to raise and maintain the profile of Groundsmen
-
to work to improve the quality of Groundsmen and playing surface
-
to promote training and education of members
-
to provide members with a bulk buying scheme for materials
-
offer specialist advice to members through the County Pitch Adviser
Membership will be offered to
-
Hampshire clubs affiliated to the Board
-
Active groundsmen in affiliated clubs, and those who work on cricket grounds
in local authorities and schools, colleges, universities and service establishments.
No Membership fee will be required. While funding permits we will wish to continue to assist clubs who become members of the ACG with IOG course fees for their ground staff.
The intention, at least to begin with, is to manage the Association through the HCB Facilities Committee, rather than set up a separate organisation with a Constitution and Officers. This can change if necessary or if the members wish it.
We hope that all affiliated clubs who look after their own grounds and their ground staff will take up this opportunity. As a starting point, we need to compile a database of individual members. If your club would like to become a member please complete a membership form or for further information please contact Colin Savage T: 02380 475609.
