Scorecard

James Vince turned into a surprise all-rounder for the day as Hampshire beat Loughborough University by 155 runs on day three of this MCCU match on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.

The batsman, who has already hit the headlines this season having registered two centuries in two innings, upped his stock even more by claiming 5-41 against the students... at one point he was even on a hat-trick!

Set a near-impossible 403 for victory, Loughborough were realistically batting for the draw and good knocks from Dimitri Ratnayake (46) and Gavin Baker (52) put them in with a shout of doing that.

But both fell victim to the medium-pace of Vince, the former bowled before the latter was trapped lbw and, their stubborn resistance beaten, their side were all out for 248 - 155 runs short of their target.

Hampshire are back to LV= County Championship action on Wednesday when they take on Worcestershire at The Ageas Bowl. Check the website early next week for a match preview or buy tickets now.

Day Two

David Griffiths starred with the ball, Michael Carberry with the bat, as Hampshire took complete control on day two of this MCCU match against Loughborough University on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.

The fast-bowler took 5-68 from 15 overs as the hosts skittled their young opposition for 163 - a deficit of 304 on first innings.

There were also wickets for Danny Briggs (2-31 off 11.4), Zimbabwean trialist Glenn Querl (1-20 off 10), Hamza Riazuddin (1-12 off 11) - who struck with the first ball of the day - and even batsman, James Vince (1-15 off 5) - whose wicket was the first of his First Class career.

Aiming to pile on the runs in double-quick time, Carberry (118) then scored a century off 113 balls (including 17 fours and one six), with captain, Jimmy Adams (61) - who scored 96 on day one - happy to play second fiddle in their 170-run opening stand.

Hampshire finished the day on 189-1 - a lead of 403 runs overall - so any chance of a victory for the visitors is out of the question. Adams' bowling attack will be looking to secure the win with another vitriolic performance on the final day of the three.

Day One

Hampshire's top order found the going so easy that they were able to declare early on day one of this three-day  First Class MCCU match against Loughborough University on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.

Home batsman James Vince (114) hit a third century in a row in First Class cricket before Adam Wheater (102* off just 70 balls, including 15 fours and three sixes) raced to his maiden ton for his new club.

It was a fitting way to celebrate a maiden First Class match on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground and it was all started by captain Jimmy Adams, who, having opened the batting for Hampshire's Second XI v Sussex's Second XI in the Nursery Ground's inaugral match over ten years' ago, opened up again today and made 96 to get his side up and running.

So well did his side bat after his departure that the next time he was called into action was to bring his side in on 377-4.

Left with half an hour and eight overs to bat before stumps, the students then lost two wickets, both to David Griffiths (2-16) to finish the day on 16-2 - 361 runs behind on first innings.
