The Ageas Bowl (Nursery Ground)
Summary: Hampshire drew with Kent.
Hampshire 2XI: 440-6 declared
Kent 2XI: 250-3
Hampshire Second XI batsman Ollie Mills hit an unbeaten century in his side’s draw against Kent 2XI in a Second Eleven Championship match that was largely affected by the rain.
The 19-year olds innings of 106* came from 148 balls (18 fours, 1 six) as Hampshire posted 440-6 batting first in a match that saw more than a day’s play lost due to rain.
Mills was excellently supported by 19-year old Rob Gibson (92) and Adam Rouse (87) – the latter following on from his superb Second XI Trophy century against the same opposition earlier in the week.
Captain Michael Roberts (42) and fellow opener Sean Terry (52) had earlier built the foundations for Hampshire, putting on 94 for the first wicket.
For Kent, opening bat Fabian Cowdrey hit an unbeaten ton in their first innings reply as they finished on 250 for 3 at the end of day three.
The 20-year old, who’s score of 132 was hit off 168 balls (18 fours, 2 sixes), was well supported by Aaron West (57).
Seamer Glenn Querl took two of Hampshire’s three wickets to finish with figures of 2-42.
Hampshire now have a lengthy break from the Second Eleven Championship with their next match against Sussex 2XI at The Ageas Bowl on 2nd July.
