Dual-registered teenager Ryan Scott has spent the past four matches turning out for Bournemouth, so he may have been a little uncertain about which dressing rooms to change in when he arrived at Chapel Gate, having been recalled by the Hampshire Academy, for whom he had played the first half of the season.
Scott, an all-rounder in Hampshire's successful Under-17 county side, had clearly been keeping a watchful eye on Bournemouth’s bowling strengths and weaknesses as he cashed in with a best-yet 90 against his recent team-mates.
Scott’s personal Premier Division best underpinned the Academy’s 260-9 declared and earned a ‘winning draw’ against a depleted Bournemouth side that, with Ventnor’s victory at Lymington, is now in relegation trouble.
Wilf Marriott (52), aided by a crisp knock late on by James Haggaty (36), ensured the Academy’s position, after which the game fizzled out in a tame draw, with Bournemouth posting 163-6 (Oli Green 2-20 off four, Rob Gibson 2-28 off 14).
