Rain ensured play was abandoned without a ball being bowled on day two of Hampshire's LV= County Championship match against Essex at The Ford County Ground, Chelmsford.
It means, with the match still in its first innings, the teams are now under some pressure to get a result with Essex, in particular, presumably keen not to let their visitors get too big an opening total.
To do so, particularly given the hosts' poor first innings batting form so far this season might set up the possibility of a follow-on and potentially the best chance of a result given the circumstances.
If the teams get out on day three, it will be opener Neil McKenzie (134*) and Dimitri Mascarenhas (7*) at the crease.
