Hampshire Academy: 191-8
South Wilts: 193-8
Scorecard
A record Premier Division eighth-wicket stand of 120 between James Haggaty (55) and Matt King (71 not out) wasn't enough as the Hampshire Academy lost to South Wilts by two wickets on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.
Having seen their side plunge to 31-6 at one point the duo were part of a battling late-order revival in which the last three batsmen added 145 runs to give the Academy a competitive total of 191-8 to defend.
But a good all-round batting performance from South Wilts, propelled by a boundary-strewn knock (containing four sixes and five fours) from Aussie, Glenn Maxwell - who has also played one Second XI match for Hampshire this season – saw the visitors good.
The Academy’s Tom Barber, did make things less comfortable than they might have been, finishing with figures of 3-37 having seen off Maxwell, fellow opener Tom Morton (2) and Eddie Abel (14).
And with the visitors eight down for 184, the match was still in the balance. But the experienced Hibberd, who was 27 not out at stumps, took South Wilts to the brink before Steve Warner hit the winning runs at 195-8.
