Charity Enjoys Ticket Giveaway for Hampshire CB40 Clash

Wessex Heartbeat given 50 tickets for competition opener

A group of people whose lives have been affected by serious heart conditions have been given the opportunity to experience the thrill of Hampshire’s opening Clydesdale Bank 40 [CB40] match at The Ageas Bowl.

Patients, families and volunteers at the Southampton-based charity Wessex Heartbeat have been given 50 free tickets to see The Royals’ match against Glamorgan’s Welsh Dragons on Bank Holiday Monday [7 May].

It’s all part of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s [ECB] CB40 Community Ticket Programme - a new initiative for the 2012 season that will see all of the 18 First Class Counties release a number of free tickets for community groups that have made a real impact in their local area.

Group Commercial Director at The Ageas Bowl, Zac Toumazi said; “Cricket is perfect for getting the local community together. CB40 games, in particular, have a great family atmosphere and we want to reward those people in the Hampshire community that so often fall into the bracket of being ‘unsung heroes’.

“Wessex Heartbeat is a charity that we, as a Club, have worked alongside on a number of initiatives recently, including having volunteered our players and staff for a charity health check, as well as my own skydive, which is taking part on the 22nd May to raise money for the cause. We’re, therefore, over the moon to be able to give some of the people at the charity this opportunity to see what should be a very good match.”

Dawn Morrison, Communications Officer said: “Wessex Heartbeat is delighted to have the support of The Ageas Bowl through the CB40 cricket ticket giveaway. The tickets will give patients and families the chance to have some fun and a day out together. Making the most of every day means so much when you are someone living with what can be a life-limiting condition, so simply enjoying an afternoon at the cricket can be a really special time for them and their families.

“It is also great to be able to give something to our dedicated Wessex Heartbeat supporters, without whom we could not provide the services that we do to improve the quality of life for heart patients and their loved ones.”
