Full squad and match preview ahead of the Hampshire Royals' Clydesdale Bank 40 Final against the Warwickshire Bears at Lord's

Hampshire Royals v Warwickshire Bears
Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
Saturday 15 September 2012 (11:30am start)
Lord’s

The season’s traditional climax is upon us and the Hampshire Royals will be hoping to go out with a bang as they take on the Warwickshire Bears in the Clydesdale Bank 40 Final at Lord’s on Saturday.

The Royals welcome Neil McKenzie back into the squad for the match alongside Simon Katich, who was rested for this week’s LV= County Championship match against Derbyshire. The South African has flown in especially for the match and will fly back out on Saturday night so he’ll be hoping all the air-miles pay off with a big innings.

Together, the duo will be looking to make up for the loss of Dimitri Mascarenhas, who misses the match through injury, and Danny Briggs, who is away on International duty with England.

In the Royals’ favour is the fact that they have lost players throughout the competition and managed to replace quality with quality. One such player who missed several games through injury but is now back and in great form is Michael Carberry.

He scored a terrific knock of 68 (including eight fours and five sixes) in the Semi-Final against South Coast rivals Sussex at Hove – a figure that has taken him to 563 runs in total in the competition, only 18 behind the tournament leader, Lancashire’s Stephen Moore.

But Warwickshire will also benefit from having the likes of England Internationals Ian Bell and Chris Woakes back in their side. Jonathan Trott misses out through injury.

Carberry said; “Warwickshire have always been a good side in all comps. They’ve got very good players and they’re an experienced team as well. But, at the end of the day, it’s names on paper. When you get to Lord’s everyone’s on an even playing field and I always say, if Hampshire turn up and we play well, I always back my team 100%. We’re going there looking to enjoy the day and play our best cricket and we’ll see what happens... hopefully a win!”

The full Hampshire squad for Saturday’s match is as follows...

(3) Simon Katich (18) David Griffiths
(4) Jimmy Adams* (25) Chris Wood
(7) Sean Ervine (33) Kabir Ali
(8) Liam Dawson (38) Hamza Riazuddin
