A rain abandoned match against the Durham Dynamos couldn't dampen the Hampshire Royals' spirits as, following their Friends Life t20 Final victory last Saturday, they qualified for the Semi-Finals of the Clydesdale Bank 40 at the Emirates ICG.
It means the Royals will play their second last-four clash in the space of a week this Saturday [1 September] against the winners of Group C, the Sussex Sharks at Hove. The other Semi pits the winners of Group A, Lancashire Lightning against the runners-up of Group C, Warwickshire Bears.
Tickets will be available through Sussex CCC, not through The Ageas Bowl.
In the end, the result of this match became academic in terms of the final standings as their only rivals for qualification, Surrey and Somerset's match at Taunton was also abandoned.
However, James Vince's impressive knock of 37 not out off 22 balls, including six fours, did give the travelling support something to cheer as the Royals reached 52-1 off the six overs that were available in the match.
Neil McKenzie, who was named in the XI but didn't get to bat, now travels back to South Africa to prepare for their domestic season. His Royals team-mates prepare for another big weekend at the climax of this fantastically successful season. A Lord's Final on 15 September awaits the winners!
