The Competition:
The Yorkshire Bank 40 is the latest incarnation of List A county cricket, allowing both teams one innings of a maximum of 40 overs each.
In 2013 the competition includes 21 teams (the 18 first-class counties plus Scotland, the Netherlands and Unicorns) competing across three groups.
Teams will play every other side in their group home and away. The winners of each group and the runner-up with the highest points total will qualify for the semi-finals.
Hampshire’s Record:
In its various incarnations as a 40-over, 50-over and 55-over competition, Hampshire have won this competition a total of nine times.
In 2013 they are defending Champions having clinched a dramatic victory by virtue of losing fewer wickets against the Warwickshire Bears at Lord's (when the competition was known as the Clydesdale Bank 40).
Re-live the memories from last season below:
Other recent successes include in 2009 (then a 50-over competition known as the Friends Provident trophy) when they beat the Sussex Sharks by six wickets and in 2005 (as the Cheltenham and Gloucester Cup), when they also beat Warwickshire. They were runners up in the same competition in 2007.
2013 Opposition:
In 2013, Hampshire have been drawn in Group B along with the Essex Eagles, Scottish Saltires, Surrey, Durham Dynamos, Derbyshire Falcons and 2012 Semi-Finalists, Lancashire Lightning.
