Rain meant there was no play between Hampshire and Northamptonshire on day two of their LV= County Championship match at Wantage Road.
That means the match stays fairly evenly balanced after a strong bowling performance, spearheaded by seamers Chris Wood (4-52) and Sean Ervine (3-32), was followed by some early Hampshire wickets on day one.
Hampshire will, therefore, resume day three on 42-3; 176 runs behind their opponents with seven wickets remaining in the first innings.
Meanwhile, the Second XI's Championship match against Essex at The Ageas Bowl was also abandoned for the day, leaving them very precariously set.
On day one the visitors had registered 395 with the bat and then made early in-roads to leave Hampshire 9-3.
Wicketkeeper-batsman, Adam Rouse and trialist, Bilal Shafayat will resume at the crease with only one day left to gain a result.
