Heavy rain throughout day four of this LV= County Championship match against Leicestershire at The Ageas Bowl meant a match which had started promisingly with career-best bowling figures for Liam Dawson (5-29), petered out into a draw.
Overnight batsmen Michael Carberry (84*) and Sean Ervine (41*) would dearly have loved to have kicked on, if not to reach their own significant milestones, to earn Hampshire a couple of extra batting bonus points.
As it was they had to settle for the one achieved through having reached 217-4. They add that to three points each for their bowling and for the draw to come away with seven points to Leicestershire's five.
The result sees the two teams go level on points in the table ahead of Hampshire's next match, away to Northamptonshire starting on Wednesday [2 May].
