Second XI Trophy
Mirroring the Yorkshire Bank 40, the Second XI Trophy (SET) is a 40-over competition played by all 18 First Class counties as well as Unicorns and the Marylebone Cricket Club’s Young Cricketers (MCC YC’s.
However, like the Second Eleven Championship (SEC), it is split into two regionally-defined groups where each team plays every group opponent only once.
Two points are awarded for a win with one point for a tie or No Result. The top two teams from each group go through to a Semi-Final draw.
As with the SEC, all SET fixtures at The Ageas Bowl are played on the club’s Nursery Ground and are free to attend.
Hampshire’s Record:
Despite being a relatively new competition, Hampshire have enjoyed plenty of success in this format over the years. Champions in 2003 and 2008, they were also beaten finalists in 1987, 1999, 2000 and 2002.
An up-and-down 2011 season saw them finish sixth with four wins, three losses and two No Results.
2012 Opposition:
Hampshire compete in the South Division alongside Essex, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Kent, MCC YC’s, Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey and Sussex.
