Full squad and match preview for the Hampshire Royals' Clydesdale Bank 40 match against the Durham Dynamos at The Ageas Bowl on Sunday

Hampshire Royals v Durham Dynamos
Clydesdale Bank 40
Sunday 15 July (1:45pm start)
The Ageas Bowl

**Please note “Special Information" section at bottom of page**

Hampshire play their first Clydesdale Bank 40 match in over a month on Sunday with last season’s Semi-Finalists the Durham Dynamos the visitors to The Ageas Bowl.

The Royals – in second place in the table – know that the results of this match and Tuesday’s fixture away to Nottinghamshire could prove pivotal in their List A season with both their oppositions directly behind them with games in hand. Two wins, however, would place Jimmy Adams’ side in the box seat for at least a best runners-up Semi-Final spot, if not a place as group winners.

Having said that, they’ll have to do it without the services of the competition’s leading run-scorer. Michael Carberry – who’s scored more than 100 runs more than any other batsman in the CB40 – is injured. However, they do welcome back from injury David Griffiths; he’s overcome an ankle problem to join a squad that also includes a serious injection of youth with James Vince, Chris Wood and Danny Briggs – none of whom played against Yorkshire this week – all involved.

Griffiths was Hampshire’s best bowler when these two teams met in this competition on this ground last season, taking 3-36. Unfortunately, a 142-run second-wicket stand between Paul Collingwood (73) and Michael di Venuto (70) took that game away from the Royals.

The good news is that it’s possible neither men will play this time around for the visitors with the latter having announced his retirement earlier this week and the former England all-rounder suffering with a hand injury.

However, former Hampshire batsman, Johann Myburgh will be involved. The 31 year old South African averaged 21.37 Friends Life t20 runs from eight innings for the Dynamos this season, with a best score of 46.

David Griffiths says; “We’ve had a very good start but we’re not getting carried away - we’ve probably played some of the weaker teams in our group. But, as a whole, we’re very happy with the way we’re going at the minute.

“The next four Championship games are key as well as the T20 [Quarter-Final] against Notts and Durham & Notts in the CB40. It’s not going to make our season I don’t think but it would put us in a very good spot if we could win the majority, if not all of those games. So that’s our plan and we’ll go out there to try to put the points on the board.”
